Characters are ponies, zebras, griffins, or any other individuals that live in a game world and can be somehow interacted with. They can serve roles such as trader, healer or quest giver.
Characters that have a dialogue option usually have only one "profile" picture that always displays in a dialog box when they're speaking. Exception is Littlepip, who has multiple pictures with various expressions.
