Skill "Repair" helps you keeping your weapons and armor in good condition, and using mechanisms of all sorts.
- Each invested skill point increases effectiveness of repairs by 4% (with base value of 20%) and increases damage for the crafted weapon by 5%.
- Each skill level enables you creating advanced weapons, also repairing or shutting down more complex mechanisms.
Usage[]
To repair a weapon, you need a weapon fragment. To repair an armor, you need a plate/fabric of certain type. Go to workbench and click on the item you need to repair. Effectiveness of repair action depends on your skill level. A portable workbench can be used when you need to repair something but don't have a workbench nearby.
To use a weapon repair kit, equip the weapon that you want to repair then use the repair kit. Unlike a portable workbench, weapon repair kits can be used even in battle.
Repairing mechanisms and disabling traps[]
A variety of mechanisms and traps need the repair skill to properly fix or disable:
- Bear traps: At level 1 you will be able to disarm a bear trap, at level 3 you will be able to rearm a bear trap against your enemies.
- Pressure plates and rigged weapons: level requirements depends.
- Buttons: probability of success repair depends on repair level. If you don't succeed you might get electrocuted, or permanently break the button.
- At level 2 you can fix the AutoDoc provided you have the materials needed. At level 5 you can do so without having to gather materials.
Crafting[]
You can craft weapons, armor and other stuff at workbenches (not at portable workbench) if you have the appropriate scheme and materials. Hoofmade weapons can be upgraded to improve their stats. There are 9 weapons, 1 armor and 3 other things relying on repair skill:
If your skill level is higher then the requirement for a hoofmade weapon, it gets an additional 10% damage bonus for every level you are above the requirement, capping at 50% damage bonus for level 0 weapons at skill level 5. This bonus applies even if the weapon was already crafted.

There are several perks associated with repair:
- Weapon maintenance (Repair 1): Probability that a worn weapon misfires is greatly diminished, even though it`s damage and accuracy still decrease.
- Scavenger (Repair 2): You get additional weapon fragments each time you find a weapon that you already have, and also find more useful garbage.
- Armor enhancement 1/2 (Repair 3/5): Allows you to improve your armor at a workbench. Second level allows you to improve it a second time.
- Reliable armor (Repair 4): Armor lasts 20% longer.
Repair alternatives[]
Repair lets you keep commonly used weapons and armor fully functional at all times, but there are alternatives:
- Lockpicking: Unlocking gun cases, safes and other things can sometimes get you a weapon you already have, which will restore it's durability partially.
- Sneak: Avoiding enemies entirely will allow you to save on repairs for your weapons or armor.
- Barter: You can pay some merchants to repair your weapons and armor for you.
- Other: Various enemies that hold weapons can drop them, letting you restore the durability of the same weapon if you've already got it.
